About Me

Greetings!

I would like to take a minute to introduce myself. I grew up on a small farm outside of Hastings with my parents, two older sisters, and one younger brother. We would spend countless hours outside when we were little so being outside is very important to me. My animals were an important part of my childhood and hence I have passed that quality on to my daughter. We will always have some kind of pet in our life.

When I was younger I was the kid that always was the “teacher”. I even brought a bag of things to do with the kids when I would go on babysitting jobs! My extended family is quite large so I grew up watching my younger cousins. It’s hard for me to see them all growing up and driving, even going to college!

I decided that a job teaching kids would be the best fit for me. My dad owned his own business and I always liked the idea of having my own. My teacher at DCTC pushed me to open a center. I was torn because I didn’t believe in a center’s philosophy. All kids are treated as numbers-pushed from room to room and teacher to teacher to keep the numbers in check. I couldn’t do it. My child care setting opened in my home when I turned 21. A lot of people that interviewed were surprised I didn’t have any kids, why was I doing child care? When they realized I was in this for the fun of working with kids and being able to assist them in reaching their milestones, they knew it was the right fit.

We finally had our daughter in 2009. Honestly I didn’t really understand what being a parent was all about until I had her. I understood all the things that parents had to worry about! I could understand the fear they faced when deciding who would provide adequate care for their child! It really makes me feel humble to be so trusted to care for so many children over the years.

I truly hope your family decides to join our group! We have a great family of friends here that are respectful and loving towards each other.
